CERTIFICATION IN INTEGRATED CARE for OBESITY (CICO)
AN ONLINE CERTIFICATION COURSE CERTIFIED BY OBESITY SURGERY SOCIETY OF INDIA (OSSI) AND ENDORSED BY INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION FOR THE SURGERY OF OBESITY (IFSO).
Obesity is the commonest disease in the world and there is an increasing recognition of the importance of holistic management. Each year, millions of patients seek treatment. There is a need for healthcare providers who can impart evidence based multidisciplinary treatment.
Bariatric surgery has become the treatment of choice for morbid obesity. Each year, thousands of patients undergo the surgery and need preoperative screening, postoperative immediate and long-term care, and support. This includes weight loss monitoring, medical treatment of comorbidities, nutritional care, and psychological support. A holistic care like this requires dedicated physicians, surgeons, dietitians, and psychologists in addition to other specialists.
There has been a rapid increase in knowledge and research in obesity management. However, there is still a deficiency of courses imparting cross-specialty knowledge.
